CONVERSION OF CAR
PRISON FOR MAORI From Our Own Correspondent PUKEKOHE, Wednesday. “I can’t see anything for it but a term of imprisonment. If it continues I will impose the maximum.’’ With this remark Mr. F. H. Lcvien, S.M., sentenced a Maori, Matatahi. alias Tommy Katipo, to one mouth's imprisonment, in tlie Pukekohe Court today for unlawfully converting a motor-car to his own use. “There have been three eases here in the last fortnight.” said Sergeant J. T. Cowan, in referring to the offence. “One car has not been recovered yet.” On Monday evening Constable A. J. Maiden said he received a telephone message to the effect that a ear owned by a Maori had been removed from George Street, Tuakau. Subsequently the vehicle was found on the Tuakau-Buckland Road, it being damaged to the extent of £25 or £3O. After questioning accused, he admitted his guilt.
