OBSTETRICAL APPEAL

CANTERBURY NOW IN LEAD QUOTA NEARLY COMPLETED Press Association STRATFORD. Today. According to Dr. Doris Gordon, secretary of the Obstetrical Society, the Canterbury district is now leading in contributions to the fund. Canterbury's quota is £ 5,000 and only £175 is now needed to complete it. Reports from the Wellington district show that £ 6,700 is in hand, there being a deficit of £BOO. There are small deficits in Alanawatu and Hawke’s Bay, but the main one is in Wellington City. Special efforts are being made in these areas to complete lull quotas. Interim reports show that Auckland City and suburbs have £3,000, but the provincial returns will be unavailable until the third week in April. The work in Otago and Southland is now in full swing, and the returns to date show a total of £2,676.
