SUNK BY GUN-FlßE. —Smashed and holed by 8-inch shells of the cruisers Australia and Canberra, the old Riverclass destroyer Torrens was sunk off Sydney yesterday. She is one of six ships of the type which are being scrapped in the drastic reduction of the Australian Navy.
