LIBERALS HELP LABOUR FOR FREE TRADE LUNCH AT MRS. SNOWDEN S Times Cable. LONDON. Wednesday. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Philip Snowden, and the Leader of the Liberal Party, Mr. Lloyd George, were among the guests at Mrs. Snowden’s second ‘'free trade luncheon” at Downing Street. It was arranged to hold a conference after Easter with business men, trades unionists, co-operators and economists for the purpose of stating the case for free trade under modern conditions. The conference is to be followed by public demonstrations at the leading centres. It is suggested that Mr. Snowden and Mr. Lloyd George may be seen on the same platform at the Albert Hall. Arrangements are being made to open a fund to finance the campaign. LABOUR SEAT VACANT BY-ELECTION SOON British Official Wireless RUGBY, Tuesday. A very interesting by-election will take place shortly at West Fulham one of the London boroughs. Dr. G. E. Spero (Labour) won the seat at the last General Election from the Conservatives, who had held it f6r many years. Now he has resigned owing to ill-health. The new Labour candidate is Mr. Banfielcl, a member of the local Borough Council, who is very popular among the working class in the constituency. At the General Election the voting was as follows: Dr. Spero 16,190 Sir Cyril Cobb (Conservative) 13,079 G. A. Gale (Liberal) 5,920
