JOLLY SOCIAL EVENING
MEMBERS OF SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS ENJOY COMMUNITY SINGING Instead of the usual monthly business meeting, the Auckland Society of Musicians held its April gathering yesterday in the form of a social eveningf and judging by the large attendance of members and friends, the innovation was very popular. _ Dr. Kenneth Phillips, president of the society, made a brief speech, in i which he welcomed the new profes- I sional members, Miss Erica Blamires. j Aliss E. J. Clarkson and Air. Tracy i Moresby, and the new associate mem- ! bers. Airs. Wells. Miss AE Morris Aliss P. Goodwin. The guests were entertained with j musical competitions. A toy symphony by Ronberg and one by Haydn were given by members, conducted by Air. O. Jensen. and caused great amusement. Air. Barry Coney led the community singing, which was very much enjoyed. The evening was brought to a close with a delightful supper, the small tables being decorated with bowls of bronze chrysanthemums and on the stage were groups of palms.
