FIRE AT TAIHAPE

RESIDENCE DESTROYED From Our Own Correspondent TAIHAPE, Tuesday. The residence of Mr. Simon Cartier, situated in Papakai Road, about two miles from Taihape, was burned to the ground at about 4.30 o’clock this morning. Nothing was sa-ved. j Mrs. Cartier and her two young children were sleeping in the house when the fire occurred and they escaped with difficulty. The building contained five rooms and was insured for £3OO in the State Fire Office. The furniture and effects were .insured for £4OO in the Commer- ; cial Union Office.
