WAR MUSEUM CONTROL

NINE LOCAL BODY NOMINEES The election on April 28 of three local-body representatives to vacancies on the War Memorial Museum Council is likely to be strongly contested. , Nominations do not close until tomorrow, but already nine candidates have been put forward. The nominees are:—-Mr. B. Brigham (Mount Albert Borough Council), Mr. H. T. Clements (Otahuhu Borough Council), Mr. I. J. Goldstine (One Tree Hill Road Board), Mr. John Hislop (Devonport Borough Council). Mr. W. R. T. Leighton (Henderson Town Board), Mr. R. T. Michaels (Newmarket Borough Council), Mr. W. H. Potter (Waitemata County Council). Mr. T. R. Smytheman (Papatoetoe Town Board), and Mr. F. M. Waters (Manukau County Council). The retiring representatives are Mr. F. M. Waters, chairman of the Manukau County Council. Mr. R. B. Todd, formerly Mayor of Otahuhu, and Mr. E. Aldridge, Mayor of Devonport. All local bodies contributing to the maintenance of the museum have the right to nominate a representative and each member of the local bodies has a vote at the election. The City Council is represented by the Mayor and three other members. The remaining 11 members of the Museum Council will be elected at the annual meeting of the Museum Institute next month.
