TE RAPA’S OPENING DAY FINE RACING ASSURED Given pleasant weather, the autumn meeting of the Waikato Racing Club, to be held at Te Rapa on Saturday and Monday next, shows promise of being even better than its predecessors, insofar as may be gleaned from the quantity and quality of the fields engaged. Without question it is one of the finest cards brought together within the Auckland Province during the j season, and in only one event—the i Hurdles, too —does the number en- ! gaged exceed a dozen. Class is-well represented in the lead- j ing mile and a-quarter the Storey j Memorial Cup, and with such per- j formers as Vertigern (Awapuni Gold ! Cup), Corinax (Auckland Cup), In the ! Shade (Wanganui Cup), Eager Rose I (Te Aroha Cup), Desert Glow (Ohine- 1 muri Cup), and other promising light- ; weights, the race will be one of the ' most interesting events at the meetPatrons desiring to go down to the fixture on Saturday morning will avail themselves of the excellent train service offering, at excursion rates, a train leaving Auckland for Te Rapa Racecourse 6.43 a.m., Newmarket 6.51, Remuera 6.57, Green Lane 6.59, Ellerslie 7.1. Penrose 7.6. Otahuliu 7.14. Papakura 7.45. Pukekohe 8.16. Tuakau 5.31. Mercer 5.56, Huntly 5.40, arriving racecourse 10.2 5 a.m. Return train leaves Te Rapa Racecourse for Auckland at 5.2 6 p.m. These trains will only stop if required at Newmarket, Remuera, Green Lane, Ellerslie, Penrose, Otahuhu, Papatoetoe, Manurewa, Papakura, Drury, Paerata, Pukekohe, Tuakau. Pokeno, Mercer, Te Kauwhata. j Ohinewai, Huntly, Taupiri, Ngarua- | wahia and Horotiu. I A second train (stopping at Newmarket only) leaves Auckland for Te Rapa Racecourse 5.7 a.m.. Newmarket 5.17, arriving Racecourse 11.6 a.m. Return train (stopping at Newmarket only), leaves Te Rapa Racecourse 5.20 p.m. At this stage a preliminary review of the fields may help backers to solve some of their problems: Maiden Stakes.
