The Queen Carnival closes on Saturday next and the various committees are very active making the most of the time. So far the Country Queen’s flag has been on top most of the time. The long spell of dry weather broke on Monday night, since which there have been many refreshing showers. The farmers were beginning to have fears for their late autumn and winter feed. Five teams from the Matata Tennis Club met five teams of the Tauranga South Tennis Club in a match for the Lee Cup. The match resulted in a win for the local club by 13 matches to On Saturday the Tauranga Tennis Club visited Te Puke and had a contest with the club. The result was a win for the Tauranga Club, 14 to ID.
