ENGINE-ROOM REPAIRS
MAKURA HOVE-TO FOR AN HOUR When less than 12 hours out from | Sydney on Saturday night the mail | steamer Makura, which reached Auck- ! land this morning-, had to be hove-tq | for an hour while engine-room repairs | were effected. i A fortnight ago, while the Makura j was travelling from Sydney to Well- ! ington, engine-room trouble also del veloped and the vessel had to be I towed into Wellington bj- the tug Toia, J which was sent in answer to a wireless call. The Makura was held up ; in Wellington for minor repairs and i the Marama was sent on to San Fran- ' cisco. The Makura left on the following Friday for Sydney, where she was ’ to have permanent repairs done, and : was a day late in leaving that port on j the trip just completed.
, The Makura. is due to sail again for j Sydney next Friday at 3 p.m. Until {the Marama returns to Sydney from 1 San Francisco, the Makura will be kept on the intercolonial run.
