DEATH FROM BURNS

HOTEL FIRE TRAGEDY From Our Oxen Correspondent NELSON, Today. The boarder in the Belgrove Hotel, destroyed by fire on Monday night, who was badly burned while escaping from the flames, died in the Nelsop Public Hospital yesterday afternoon. His name was John Galvin. There were no fire-fighting appliances at Belgrove. and the hotel, a wooden building 23 years old, burned furiously, the glare from the flames being see at Stoke IS miles away. Several other boarders received slight burns, but none was seriously injured. John Galvin, who was aged 35, was formerly assistant station master at Mangatainoka. He was educated at the Kukanui aiul Pahiatua schools, where he was very popular. He left the Pahiatua district several years ago. His father died lately, but his mother and members of his family live in Pahiatua.
