POLICE ENTERTAIN
DRUNK MISTAKES LOCK-UP FOR HOTEL GUEST-ROOM MELBOURNE, April 1. YI7HEN a drunken man, a stranger to the town, staggered into the Terang Police Station, he thought he was in an hotel. ‘‘l am a bona fide traveller,” he said, “you can serve me.” Inviting the two policemen to have a drink, he ordered a whisky. To gain time, the police promised to bring his drink if he went to his bedroom, as he stated his intention of staying the night. Conducted to his “bedroom” (a police cell), he complained that the pillows were inferior. The guest came to his senses next morning.
