REMARKABLE RECORD
BABY TRIUMPH'S SUCCESS The endurance test by a Baby Triumph, the progress of which was reported in these notes last week, has now been completed, and stands at the amazing record of 10,000 miles in 15 days. The test was run over the roads between Auckland and New Plymouth, eurch round trip of 500 miles being completed in 18 hours. The original intention was for the car to do the whole 10,000 miles without the engine stopping, but at about the S.OOO miles mark a road slip toppled the car over a bank! Although the car somersaulted 30 feet it was quite undamaged, started very eas ly und completed the remaining 2.00 U miles on schedule—a remarkable testimony to the strength and durabilitv of this little British-built car. As previously stated, the benzine consumption worked out at a little under 45 m.p.g., at the constant speed of approximately 30 m.p.h. STRAY DONKEYS IN MADRID New York has the problem of disposing of abandoned motor-cars, but in Madrid it’s abandoned donkeys. Every once in a while a little donkey is found on the streets, either lost or abandoned by an owner who could no longer afford to feed the animal. The difference between an abandoned automobile and an abandoned donkey is that the automobile occupies space but eats nothing, while the donkey does both. The city of Madrid spends quite a lot of money every time a donkey is found on its hands, and is therefore anxious to get rid of him as soon as possible. Auction sales are announced, but frequently no buyers are immediately found.
