“UNDER THE GREENWOOD TREE” The current programme at the Roxy Theatre will have its final presentation there this evening:. This includes the fine romantic drama, “Mexicali Jtoae,’ 1 ’ starring Sam Hardy and Barbara Shanwyck, also the views of the famous Sarron-Donovan light at Wellington. The M ell stock instrumental choir, hiade famous by Thomas Hardy in his novel, “Under the Greenwood Tree,” the all-dialogue film version of which is to be relased at the Roxy Theatre tomorrow by Cinema Art Films, resings the carols and village tunes on the screen, after nearly a century has elapsed. They all return in the picture—grandfather Dewey, Reuben Dewey and nis son Dick, the young leader of the hand, Tubbv and Spinks, the village blacksmiths. Leaf, the half wit, and Penny, the shoemaker, who plays the serpent.” You see them in the full dress of tho period, with their folk songs and Christmas carols, and see bonnetted maidens and sleepy yokels trolling across the market place. The Picture, which was directed by Harry J-achman, has been acc. med a triumph throughout the world, and has splendid cast, including Marguerite John Batten, the young Auckland boy, and Nigel Barrie.
