SCHOOL CHAIRMAN RETIRES

The retiring chairman of the Newton School Committee, the Rev. Thomas Halliday, who has left the district, was presented with an illuminated address at the first meeting of the new committee yesterday. He had served for seven years, for four years acting as chairman. Reference to Mr. Halliday’s services was made by Mr. G. Kerr, a committee member for 13 years, who made the presentation, and by Mr. S. Walker, headmaster of the Newton Central School.
