INCREASED activity m banks was recorded on ’Change this morning. Prices, generally, continue rather erratic, but there is a quiet demand for all sound stocks.

Market At Midday British Tobaccos showed a further decline this morning, selling at a price which allows a return of approximately k per cent, based on the company's latest dividend. Bank of New Zealand scrip continues to move to higher levels; a further advance took place this morning; the
directors’ announcement relative to a continuation of the usual rate of dividend has given the market greater confidence in this scrip. The unsatisfactory progress shown by the Taranaki Oil Fields Co. at Gisborne is reflected in the market for the scrip, sellers dropping to 3s. Farmers’ Fertilisers are now below par, and on present prices offer a return of over X per cent, based on the latest dividend. Mine Managers’ Reports Mine managers report as follow; Moanataiari.—During the week we nave crosscut through the reef for about Bft. There are about sft. of sond quartz, and the rest is combined of ribs of quartz and country rock. ' I do not think we have yet got the main nangmgwall. The quartz shows colours of gold and is fairly well mineralised. Tui.—During the week the drive on No. 3 reef was advanced 7ft to a total of 118 ft. from the crosscut.
