NOT GIVING UP

BAD BEACH HAMPERS DON’S SPEED TEST OFFICIAL TIME EXTENDED United I\A.—By Telegraph-*—Copyright W ASHINGTON, Saturday. The Contest Board of the American Automobile Association announces in connection with Mr. Kaye Don’s speed trials at Daytona Beach, Florida, that the design of his car. Silver Bullet, makes it imperative that the course ,should be in the best possible condition. Therefore an extension of the board's sanction has been made for him to make his runs under the most favourable weather and beach conditions. A message from Daytona says rough conditions on the beach prevail. Mr. Don has intimated that his car will be ready for further tests tomorrow, but they will be postponed indefinitely. Advice was received on Saturday from C. C. Wakefield and Company, Limited, of Wellington, that it has received a cablegram from its London office stating that it had been in telephonic communication with Mr. Kaye Don at Daytona Beach. He had stated that the beach had been in a persistently bad condition. His car was right and he was only waiting for a favourable opportunity. He had no intention of abandoning his attempt to break the record.
