LEAGUE PRACTICES
WELL-ATTENDED MUSTERS AT CARLAW PARK PROMINENT PLAYERS OUT League football clubs were busy on Saturday. There was a big muster at Carlaw Park where City and Ponsonby held practices. Other clubs were represented too. Of last year’s players, the following prominent club men were noticed: Delgrosso, Pat Skelton, Stevens (Ponsonby); Shortland, Watene, McLaughlan,, Len Barchard and Hamilton (City): and Duane and Batchelor (Marist). It is rumoured that there is a< big possibility of “Gig” Wetherill, ex-AlI Black League captain, turning out again for City this season. Ben Davidson, who has been playing with Wigan in England for the past two years, is expected back in Auckland on Monday morning. Prominent League “heads” who witnessed today’s practice were Messrs George Rhodes (chairman of the Management Committee), Ivan Culpan (secretary). Fred Ellis (treasurer», Ernie Asher (selector), and J- W. Hammill (ex-chairman). The first casualty of the season was Arthur Hunt, an Akarana player, who injured his shoulder at: practice today | and had to be taken to the Hospital for i attention
