RATEPAYERS MEET
NORTH DEVONPORT , Dcvonport Ratepayers’ •ind Residents Association, held its annual. meeting on Saturday evening, ihe report of the retiring chairman, , : Knowles, showed that the year had been a busy one. The association had striven to secure attention to the needs of the area, particularly concerning the footpaths. The Borough Council had carried out various works in the district and money Had been allocated for others. The policy of beautifying the land about the bathing sheds had been continued and seats provided for the use of visitore The treasurer had £lB in hand. .The Mayor of Devon port, Mr. E Aldridge, was present and reviewed the general position of the borough He claimed that the policy of metering the water supplies of the borough had effected great economies and this there would not be any levy of the 7s 6d meter maintenance charge He explained that all works had been paid for out of revenue and urged the association to consider the wisdom of. agitating for a change of the borough rating system from rating on the un- ! improved, to rating on the annual or ! capital value systems.
