TREE STUMP BLOWN UP

DAMAGE TO ROOF OF HOUSE From Our Own Correspondent DARGAVILLE, Friday. An unusual accident occurred at Tangowahine yesterday, when a party of Public Works employees were carrying out blasting operations. A tree stump, under which a very strong charge must have been placed, blew up with terrific force, and a portion of it was blown many feet in the air, and with such velocity that it landed on the roof of Mr. F. Crawford's house. It penetrated the roof, and forced its way through the ceiling of one of the bedrooms. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford, and members of the family,, were not at home at the time, and no members of the blasting party were injured.
