LEMONADE AND LEMON SYRUP How to make lemon drink from lemons and bottle the mixture. For the lemon drink, cut up three lemons into slices, add sugar to taste aud pour over one quart of boiling water. Stir slowly until all the sugar is dissolved, then add another pint of water. When cold, add a teaspoon of citrate of magnesia, which will produce a sparkle. Another method is to add a quart of boiling syrup, made from a cup of sugar to a quart of water, to the strained juice of three lemons and the grated rind of one. Cool and strain; then add ice when serving. For preserving, the syrup may be made in the following manner:—Boil together for a few minutes two quarts of water, 31b. of sugar, two chillies cut up, the grated rind of two lemons. Squeeze the juice of eight lemons into a jug. and pour into the boiling water. Strain and, when cool, bottle.
