GOODBYE TO WASHINGTON.—Sir Esme Howard, Ambassador to the United States from Great Britain, and Dean of the Washington Diplomatic Corps, at the completion of six years’ service in the U.S.A., handed in his letter of re call to President Hoover recently. Sir Esme has reached the age-limit for members of the diplomatic service. The veteran diplomat, with Lady Isabella Howard, boarded the train leaving Washington D.C. for New York City. The entire Diplomatic Corps was present at the station. On the right Sir Esme is shown leaving his New York residence, at 107 East 71st Street, a few hours before he sailed for England.
