YESTERDAY’S TRACK WORK PROMISING YOUNG TROTTER \ Special to THE SUN I CHRISTCHURCH, Ifcarsday. With the approach of the Easter carnival of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, interest in track work at Addington increases daily, and the efforts of Concliff, The Shrew, Vendome, Native Prince, Daphne de Oro, Zenith, Erin’s Pointer, Nelson Boy, Salient and Carmel were among those that impressed favourably this morning on a good track. Concliff was worked over two miles, giving a. good exhibition. Rose Ando was tried at a mile and a-half. She came the last mile in 2.1 G and gave a solid display. John Mauritius was restricted to 2.20 work for two miles. A fine piece of work went down to the credit of The Shrew, Vendome, Kelp, George Rey, Native Prince and Daphne de Oro. They set out from the two-mile post, Vendome making the early pace from Native Prince, Kelp, The Shrew, George Rey and Daphne de Oro. The mile took 2.22 and mile and a-quarter in 2.57. When the mile and a-half was reached in 3.30, The Shrew made a forward move and, sustaining her run, she finished up better than Vendome, with Kelp, George Rey, Native Prince and Daphne do Oro close up. The time for the full journey was 4.37. Lord Match light and Flying Prince had a medium pace two-mile task. Both are well. Zenith shaped well in a two-mile unhoppled essay. Sodium Improving Anon and Sodium set out from the mil© and a-half. They hung together well all the way, taking 2.55 for 10 furlongs. A furlong from home Anon broke and Sodium wound up the full distance in good time. Sodium is rapidly on the improve and went without a hitch. Erin’s Pointer attracted a lot of attention by the speed she showed in a mile and a-quarter spin. The Travis Axworthy filly looks certain to take a high rank. Nelson Boy and Russell Pointer were assisted over the last mile and aquarter of a two-mile spin by Nelson Ata. Nelson Boy finished on best and held the measure of Nelson Ata at the end, with Russell Pointer well up. Salient, looking very well, was indulged in strong work over a distance. Carmel Pleases Carmel liit out freely in an unhoppled two-mile brush. The Auckland gelding is coming on pleasingly for C. Fairman, and should strip a very fit horse by Easter. Kreisler showed all his brilliance in a mile and a-half essay. F. Holmes has added the useful three-year-old Flossie Harvester, formerly trained by G. McKendry, to his team. A half-sister to Tom Thumb, she is endowed with all the family brilliance, and should be an early winner. J. Bryce has Matchmaker ready to improve on recent winning form, and that means fireworks very soon. Bonnie Locanda has left F. J. Marshall’s stable, and will in future be prepared by F. J. Owen. Lady Zora will not fulfil her engagements at the Marlborough meeting on Saturda3”. She has not done well since her return from the West Coast, and at the eleventh hour Trainer Owen decided to forgo the trip. Air. J. R. Frizzell has Tom Thumb and Great Harvester in good order for Easter racing. Great Harvester is a very brilliant gelding, but his manners keep him down. Pageant is in work again, under E. Woodham, at Addington. D. Withers has Kingcraft, Anon, Logan Princess and Regal Voyage in great order for Easter engagements. Tumatakuru will be a visitor to Hawera and should pay expenses. The Lorenes Todd two-year-old trotter, trained by A. Cox, and which is to do an exhibition mile at the Forbury Park winter meeting, is the best of his age seen at Addington for many years. This morning he went a mile easily in 2.25.
