BOARD DEFIED

WORK ON DRAIN STOPPED HINT OF EXPLOSIVES From Our Oien Correspondent HAMILTON’ Today. The Eureka Drainage Board ha? been defied in a somewhat unorthodox manner. Despite the objections of several settlers, the board proceeded with deepening part of the cable drain in the Xewstead district. Workmen ceased operations this week, when they saw an anonymous notice warning them that the drain was mined. The settlers believe that deepening would result in the floodiug of their lands, and a meeting between the board and objectors has been convened for Tuesday to consider tin question.
