Obituary
MRS. I. McLEOD Another of the Nova Scotians who settled in the Waipu district in 3 855, Airs. Isabella McLeod, has died there at the age of 77. Born at Port Fairie, near Adelaide. Mrs. McLeod came to New Zealand with her parents, Air. and Airs. Donald McKay, two years later. Her grandfather, Air. John AlcKay, was one of two men who inspected New Zealand and chose Waipu as the site of the settlement. Airs McLeod had lived all her life in the district, and had been closely associated with the work of the Presbyterian Church. Air. AlcLeod died 29 years ago. Of a family of nine sons and five daughters, Airs. AlcLeod is survived by five sons and five daughters. There are 22 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Two sons were killed in the Great War. MR. G. DAWSON All*. George Dawson, who died at the ago of 92. was an old resident of Kaihu. Born at Stoke-on-Tees, County of Durham, Yorkshire, Air. Dawson came to | Auckland in the sailing ship Rangitiki [ in 1884 and later settled at Kaihu. Air , Dawson is survived by three sons and five daughters. There are 43 grandchildren. 36 great-grandchildren, and i two great-great-grandchildren.
