THEFT OF FISH

YOUNG MARRIED MAN IN DOCK GIVEN PROBATION Described as a driver, aged 19, and a married man, John Ritchie pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning to tho theft of fish valued at £5 16s and was admitted to probation for 12 months. Ritchie was charged with stealing the fisli from New Zealand Fisheries, Ltd.. *t "Wellington, between February 3 and March 14. Chief-Detective Hammond said accused had been employed by the New Zealand Fisheries at Wellington. The linn had been supplying a restaurant which changed hands. The new owner did not renew the order, but accused had kept it going until he had obtained fish valued at £5 13s Cd conurting the proceeds to his own use. "fkt is a married man.” added the i jh -detective. “He pleaded guilty • Admitting the man to probation and ordering him to make restitution. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M . suggested that it would be a :rood thing for accused to have the probation officer to help him with advice.
