Auckland Artists Send to London
PICTURES FOR EXHIBITION STILL-LIFE AND LANDSCAPE Four pictures by Auckland artists will be exhibited at the British Empire Art Exhibition, which is to be opened at the Burlington Galleries, London, on April 9. These are: “Kowhai in Bloom,” a stall-life in water colours, by Dorothy Ashton. “In the AVaitakeres,” a view of the ranges in water colours, by Ella Spicer. “Summer Shacks, Nihotupu,” and “Pohutukawas in Bloom,” two oils, by Alice Whyte. Although these pictures will not reach London in time for the opening of the exhibition, they should be in time to be exhibited for some weeks. Two portrait busts by W. H. Wright, of the Elam School of Art, have also been forwarded to the exhibition. One is of Dr. E. B. Gunson, and the other of Mr. Guy Mountain. The pictures are for sale. They will be exhibited along with examples of the work of artists from other Dominions, and London comment on the New Zealand work should be interest-
