SYDNEY AIRMEN TREK OVER 110 MILES OVERDUE AT WYNDHAM United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 10.24 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. All yesterday D. Smith and H. W. Shiers, the New South Wales airmen who were forced down SO miles from Wyndham, trecked with a police party toward Wyndham over a hazardous track in terrific heat from the spot where the airplane City of Sydney was forced down. The party had to traverse 110 miles, including many detours owing to roughness of the territory. They travelled by truck, car and on horseback, and in some places on foot. They were expected to arrive at Wyndham at 6 o’clock last night, but no word of their arrival had been received in Sydney early this morning. PIPER AND KAY SYDNEY, Tuesday. Flying-Officers H. L. Piper and C. Kay have repaired the engine of their machine and returned to Longreach, North Queensland. They intend to leave there tomorrow for Narromine and now expect to arrive at Sydney on Thursday.
