MAHENO PASSENGER DIES AS SHIP BERTHS INQUIRY AT MELBOURNE MELBOURNE, Tuesday. The death of Miss Clara Chettie, aged 50, a passenger on the Maheno’ which arrived from Bluft on Saturday! was inquired into by the navigation authorities, who returned a verdict of death from natural causes. Criticism has arisen owing to the fact that the Maheno did not carry a doctor, although there were 213 passengers on board. The patient became ill when the ship was a day out from Bluff. Medical advice was obtained by wii eiess. Miss C-hettfe died when the Maheno was about to berth.
