ROSKILL DRAINAGE CONTRACTS £43,740 INVOLVED i Tenders amounting to £43.740 were accepted by the Mount Roskill Road Board last evening for the extension of the drainage system in its western area. Sanft moved that the question be deferred for two weeks in order to give each member of the board a further opportunity of considering the details. Failing a seconder, the board agreed to accept the foregoing tenders subject to the authorisation by the Local Bodies’ Loans Board to raise the required capital at 52 per cent. Final arrangements were left in the hands of the chairman, clerk, and engineer. The acting-chairman, Mr. G. E. Tansley, expressed satisfaction with the prices quoted for the various contracts, I which were considerably below the engineer’s estimate. It is expected that the work, which will absorb a considerable amount of labour, will be commenced within the next few weeks.
