THREE TOMATO RECIPES TOMATO DUMPLINGS Wash but do not peel six small tomatoes, cut out the stem end and In the cavity of each place onequarter of a teaspoonful of salt, the same of sugar and butter, one-eighth of a teaspoonful of mustard, and a sprinkle of pepper. Sift together two cupfuls of flour, four teaspoonfuls of baking-powder, and two teaspoonfuis of salt. Mix in four teaspoonfuls of shortening with two knives and add just enough water to make a dough of proper consistency for rolling out. Toss on a floured board and roll out to one-quarter of an inch in thickness. Cut into six pieces and lay a prepared tomato on each piece. Wet the edges of the dough and bring together, covering the whole tomato well. Steam over boiling water for three-quarters of an hour. Serve with or without butter sauce. STUFFED TOMATOES Hollow out six small tomatoes. Let them soak for hours in a mixture of vinegar, salad oil, pepper and salt. Fill them with a mixture made up of half a cupful of any selected fish minced up, two finely-chopped hardboiled eggs, one tablespoonful of capers, one teaspoonful of chopped herbs, and parsley. Bind the whole with mayonnaise to which a dash of piquante sauce has been added. This is a good way of using up fish left over from other meals. TOMATOES WITH SCRAMBLED EGGS Take tomatoes of even size and cut off the tops. Remove a little of the pulp and sprinkle each with salt, sugar, and onion juice. Dot with butter and bake In a hot oven for 10 minutes. Have the scrambled eggs ready w T ith a little onion sauce and fill the tomatoes with them. Serve
FOR GROWING HAIR If you are letting your hair grow, and have it curled at the back, the wave is apt to be pressed flat by the hat brim. To obviate this, place a narrow piece of tulle or net across the hair at the back and pin the ends of the net in front of the head. Place the hat over this carefully and remove the tulle when you take off the hat. The curls will keep in ever so much longer if you adopt this little precaution.
