We might wonder what there could be between the W3rd zesand a small piece of orange peel. this is what the word means. A long time ago it was the custom othe Continent to put strips of orang •or lemon peel in drinks in order give a piquancy to them, and so w word zest, a piece of peel, cam ® + -4 J be used for the flavour it * m P£; c: Then zest was used in a more sense, and men were said to zest in their work or sport or otn * occupation just as they found a P‘iAant flavour in their drink when the p**was added.
