LONDON WOOL SALES

Reed. L 1.50 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. At the wool sales 9,652 bales wefe offered, Including 903 from New Zealand. About 4,340 were sold. There was a large selection of greasy Merinos, chiefly superstyle, and a moderate supply of greasy crossbreds. Good competition prevailed, with prices fully equal to last week’s rates. New Zealand greasy crossbreds sold: Whare, 10 Jd and 9 id; E/EE, 10d and BJd. WOOL IN SYDNEY SYDNEY, Tuesday. At the Sydney wool sales today the offering totalled 9,405 bales, of which 8,942 were sold publicly, and 4,617 privately. There was keen and widely distributed competition. The market was frm at the best point of the week with some improvement ir. prices. There was particularly spirited demand for skirtings. Greasy Merino fleece sold to 26id. PAF’AKURA STOCK SALE There was a slightly smaller yarding at the Loan and Mercantile cattle at Papakura yesterday. Prices were on a par with the previous sale. Good dairy cows and heifers, close to Profit, sold readily, ancl brought from £H to £l3 10s; other cows and heifers, from about £ 9 to £lO ss; backward and inferior sorts, £7 to £8 10s. Westfield values were maintianed for beef. Light prime steers brought £lO 10s; light prime cows and heifers. £7 5s to £8 ss; light and unfinished cows and heifers, £5 15s to £6 10s. There was no competition for two-year-old steers, and were mostly Passed in: 1 to 3*-year-old heifers, e mpty, from £4 to £4 15s. There "was an excellent demand for good weaner Jersey calves, which sold readily up to £ 5 4s for a choice pen from Mr. Fred Mullins, of Ardmore. Other Jersey weaners brought £3 15s to £4 7s. Bulls for potting, were dightly easier in price. Heavy bulls, £8 10s to £9 ss; lighter sorts, £7 10s to £8 ss; small and low-conditioned, £3 10s to £5.
