MR. WATKINS WELCOMED BACK Mr. H. H. Watkins, chairman of the Vauxliall District School Committee, who recently returned from an extended J:our abroad, was extended a welcome at the meeting of the board last evening by Mr. G. T. Samson, deputy-chairman. The district in which the school is situated is named after the Vauxhall parish in London, where the famous old Vauxhall Gardens formerly were. With a view to establishing relations between the children of the districts, Mr. Watkins presented to the Vauxhall Street School, London, a New Zealand flag and letters of greeting. These had been forwarded to him by the committee. teachers and pupils of the Vauxhall School, Deponport. The presentation was made just prior to the Christmas vacation, at which time the Empire free trade campaign was prominent in Great Britain. Mr. Watkins therefore took the opportunity of describing to the pupils of the school, the varied resources and products of the Dominion.
