THIEVES TIRE OF HEARING CHURCH BELLS CHIME STOLEN IN EARLY HOURS KANSAS CITY, MARCH 20. Unless someone puts a stop to the activities of church bell thieves this part of the country is going to wake up some Sunday morning to listen in vain for the familiar call to worship. Recently a church bell weighing about 5001 b„ was found at Third Street and Grand Avenue. Residents in the vicinity said they heard it fall j off a truck about 3 o’clock in the j morning. Certainly, the police said, no one; would be out with a church bell as early as that if something were not amiss. Now they have evidence that not only this bell, but others as well, were stolen. The latest report came in a letter from the Methodist Church at Harrisville, Montana, requesting the police to he on the look-out for its bell. In addition, the Salem Methodist Church at St. Louis, the Blue Springs (Montana) Christian Church, and the Cedar Vale (Kansas) Methodist | Church have reported missing bells.
