WOMEN’S NATIONAL RESERVE HOLDS FIRST MEETING
DONATION TO OBSTETRICAL APPEAL The Women’s National Reserve held its first meeting after the summer recess recently. A letter was received from headquarters in Wellington show- j ing appreciation of the work done in ; Auckland. 'The Wellington branch sent a report of its activities in connection with the . residential nursery and the care of < patients in the mental hospital. The ! society decided to send a. donation of! £ 5 to the obstetrical endowment ap- \ peal fund. During the summer the reserve organised a bridge afternoon at the Evelyn Firth Home, and it was decided to hold another at an early date. The secretary reported that, with the aid of friends, the society had been enabled to send a radio set to a lonely exsoldier in the back blocks. It was decided to purchase a clock and donate it to the women’s rest rdom in Karangahape Road. The members also undertook to make warm clothing for several needy children.
