WRESTLING AT OTAHUHU

SUCCESSFUL TOURNAMENT PROFESSIONALS INTRODUCED Good bouts were seen at the first tournament of the Otahuhu Wrestling Association, staged under the auspices of the New Zealand Wrestling Association in the Orpheus Theatre, Otahuhu, last evening. The visiting professional wrestlers, George Walker, Scotty McDougall, j Fred Ebert and Alex Lundyn, were in- j troduced. The exhibition bout between ’ Lundyn and Charlie Pollard, the New i Zealand professional, did not take I place owing to the Finn having in- : pured an ankle. The officials were:—Referee, Mr. E. Stansfield; timekeepers, Messrs W. H. j Pinkey and C. Nicholson; announcer, j Mr. A. Murdoch. At the conclusion of the tourney : trophies were presented to Kisha j Bana, C. Webb and F. Clarke, a special ; medal going to A. Jones, runner-up to Clarke, and a special trophy to V. ! Newton for securing a fall in the j fastest time. Results are as follow: Kishna Banna, 7st 21b, and S. Brewer, 7st 81b, met in a special challenge bout. Brewer put up a good showing, but Kishna Bana was the cleverer, gaining falls from a body press and double Nelson. F. Clarke beat D. Pearce, lOst 51b, by two falls. W. Hieatt, lOst 71b, beat M. Horan, lOst 81b., by two falls. L. Naylor, lOst 51b, beat V. Smith, lOst, by 'one fall. A. Jones, lOst 81b, beat L Paget, lOst 51b, by two falls. Semi-final: V. lsewton, 9st 81b, beat W. Hieatt by one fall. P. Clarke beat V. Newton by two falls. A Jones won from L. Naylor, who was disqualified. In the final, F. Clarke beat A. Jones, taking his opponent to the mat with a headlock and secured a fall from a bodv press. Jones injured his shoulder and could not continue. A. Cartier, 6st 131 b. beat A. Pasanore Sst, by one fall. C. Webb, Sst 121 b, beat H. Brewer by default, but later rnet K. Brewer, Bst 51b, whom he defeated bv two falls.
