In the Market Place
PEACHES IMPROVE POOR DEMAND FOR APPLES A slight improvement was apparent in the inquiry for peaches at today's sales in the city markets. Golden Queens are higher in price. A poor inquiry exists for apples, and prices reveal no change. Gravensteins are now off the market. j Improved quality is shown in the supplies of outdoor grapes. For these, prices show a slight rise. Hothouse grapes are meeting with a fair demand. Passion fruit is plentifully supplied. ' Lemons are on a duller market than they have been for some time, and the inquiry is slow. • Californian oranges are maintaining their high values. Good dessert pears are being cleared satisfactorily. Cabbages, pumpkins, beans, green peas, and onions are especially heavily supplied in the vegetable auction, with only a fair demand generally.
