LONG GRASS ABLAZE

HOUSES THREATENED Quick work by the Mount Albert Fire Brigade shortly after noon today prevented the destruction of houses in /Woodward Road. Mount Albert, by fire. When the brigade received the alai in at 12.20 p.m., a blaze, which had begun in a two-acre paddock of long grass, had gained a strong hold. The firemen had a hard fight and it was nearly an hour before the flames were extinguished. No serious damage was done.
