UNDERPAID CABINET
HIGHER SCALE PROJECTED FOR HOME MINISTRY Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. An increase in the Prime Minister’s salary from £5,000 to £B,OOO a year, and a salary of £4,000 for the Leader of the Opposition, are among the recommendations of the committee which examined the payment of Cabinet Ministers. * According to the “Weekly Dispatch,” other increases varying from £I,OOO to £3,000 are suggested. There are 20 posts in the Cabinet, one (Lord High Chancellor) commanding £IO,OOO, nine, including the Prime Minister, drawing £5,000, one (First Lord of the Admiralty), £4,500, one £3,000', one £2,500, and seven £2,000.
