INTRIGUING CHASE
ACTRESS WINS £4,000; THEN DISAPPEARS HUSBAND NOW MISSING SAN REMO, Saturday. The disappearance of a London actress, Miss Betty Fairfax, from Nice after she had won £4,000 at the casino, has developed into on intriguing chase round Southern Europe At first it was thought there had been foul play, as she was carrying her winnings. Then she was recognised at the San Reriio casino, where again she was gambling heavily. The casino authorities confirm this, and say she won between £6OO and £7OO. Again Miss Fairfax disappeared, and was traced to Bordighera, where she again disappeared. The police believe she has gone to London. Her husband, who was following: up vogue rumours, is now missing. It is thought possible that Miss Fairfax developed the gambling fever, and was following a myster ous gambler, whose play 'she copied at the casino, when she had her first big win.
