PLANE CRASHES 150 FEET

FLIER ALMOST UNHURT I SMASH NEAR MASTERTON Press Association MASTERTON, Sunday. An all-metal Avro-Avian airplane, j owned by Mr. A. B. Juit. of Papawai, Greytown, crashed on Saturday afternoon when landing at Willowbarn, the property of the airman. The machine encountered an air pocket after the engine “had been cut off, and it fell about 150 feet, striking some willowtrees. The lower wing then struck a bank, and the airplane came to rest against the. stump of a tree, although it did not capsize. Mr. Jury was struck - by a willow branch and had some teeth knocked j out when thrown against the windscreen. He otherwise escaped injury, but was rendered unconscious for about 10 minutes. The machine was very badly damaged, although the engine appears to bo intact.
