MORRINSVILLE CONTEST i From Our Own Correspondent MORRINSVILLE, Sunday. Girl Guides from nine South Auckland troops met on the Morrinsville recreation ground in a series of competitions for the Herbert Smith Cup, which is donated annually to the troop gaining most points at the South j Auckland guide rally. The weather was perfect, and there was a large crowd of spectators. About 250 guides and brownies took part in the march past, at which Mrs. iH. Toombs, commissioner for South Auckland, took the salute. The sight of the different troops marching with their company standards flying in the breeze was very impressive, and evoked expressions of admiration from the crowd. The Morrinsville Municipal Band played selections and the music for the marchings. The Te Kuiti company, under Miss F. _ Graham, won the cup with 112 points, with Morrinsville, under Miss M. Allen, second with 10S?s points. Other scores were as follow: Cambridge, 102; Ngaruawahia, 99: Hamilton, 9S£; Claudelands, 94£; Te Awamutu, 93; Frankton, 9d; Pukemiro (who did not contest two events), 591-. Points were given for appearance, marching, folk-dancing, signalling, physical drill, and camp-making. The guides were entertained by the Morrinsville Guide Committee.
