PRESENTATIONS
PUKEKOHE Messrs. H. E. Parris and A. W. Smith, of the Pukekohe railway‘Station staff, who have been transferred to Palmerston North and Waiotira respectively, were honoured at a social function this week. Mr. Parris was presented with a suitcase and a traveller’s ash-tray, and Mr. Smith with a pocket watch and an ash-tray. Items were given by Messrs. R. RuTty, W. G. Stewart, H. J. G. Allen, R. G. Law, and Glover. Prior to his departure to join the staff of the Waipa County Council as then, of the Franklin County ■Council, was fare welled by a number of his friends. The function took the form of a dinner at one of the city hotels, a theatre party being- held later. On behalf of the gathering, Mr. D. G. Law presented Mr. Trevarihen with a pair of ebony-backed military hairbrushes, and congratulated him on his promotion. and expressed regret at his departure. TE KUITI At Te Kuiti during the week a farewell social was given to Mr. J. Lynch, who has been a member of the local railway staff for the past 10 years. Mr. Lynch is being transferred to Kumeu. A pleasant evening was spent in the Railway Social Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Lynch were the recipients of a travel- , ling rug and a dinner set. Mr. Ongley, chairman of the local branch of the A.S.R.S., made the presentation.
