RUGBY STIR

FOOTBALL POLITICS AT HAMILTON CLUB’S TWO SENIOR TEAMS From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Friday. Something of a sensation has been caused in local Rugby circles by the farcical position revealed at the annual meeting of the Hamilton Kugby Union last evening. Ever since the Old Roys Club entered two teams in the senior competition last year other clubs, particularly Technical Old Boys and Frankton, have shown undisguised opposition to the principle. Last night the stage *was set for a battle royal and the atmosphere was electrio when the contentious notice of motion was tabled by the Technical Club, ’‘that the constitution of the union be added to provide that where an affiliated club desires to enter more than one team in the senior competition the approval of the union’s annual meeting shall be first obtained.” RULED OUT OF ORDER The Old Boj#*s Club, which, it is understood, is not sure whether it will field two senior teams this season and is playing for time, won a tactical advantage when the notice of motion was ruled out of order by the chairman, who admitted that the necessary notice of the motion had not been given. The Technical delegates opposed the blocking tactics of the Old Boys’ Club and urge-d that the matter be dealt with that evening. A resolution to this effect was carried, but as it was not unanimous the chairman ruled that the matter could not be dealt with. The union was thus rendered powerless to discuss a matter which has probably caused more argument than any football question of recent years. Technical Old Boys and those favouring only one senior team from each club have been temporarily defeated, but the next step will probably be a special meeting when finality will be sought. . , 'T , Meanwhile the town is buzzing with speculation as to what the outcome will be.
