SAVING FRUIT FROM BIRDS
A great deal of time Is lost on or- i cliards trying to frighten away birds from ripening fruit. Birds are worst j in dry seasons. I After many tests it is found that tins of water placed about under the trees as well as small tins tacked to the branches and kept full of liquid, save much l’rult. Birds are generally thirsty and the beak is just shoved in to get at the juice. Also, if entire destruction is aimed at, poisoned wheat is more effective than the gun. Owing to the danger of cats and dogs eating the dead birds, petrol soaked wheat is best. When the birds eat this they become stupefied and a small boy can easily pick them up as they/ lie about.
