GARY COOPER PROPOSES
Gary Cooper, in his first four years as a motion picture actor, beginning in the extra ranks and climbing to stardom, has made “proposals” to dozens of women on the screen. They have all been beauties, young, fascinating, beauties with blue, black, brown eyes; beauties with blonde, brunette and red hair; beauties, sophisticated and sleek, gay and demure. . . . Clara Bow, Evelyn Brent, Nancy Carroll, Mary Brian, Florence Vidor, Esther Ralston. Colleen Moore and Lupe Velez. Cooper has made his proposals from balconies, on desert, in the saddle, over cafe tables, but it remained for the tall . young actor to make the most unusual ; and dramatic proposal of his career l in 'the Paramount picture “Seven Days’ Leave,” adapted from Sir James | M. Barrie’s, sensational play, “The Old j Lady Shows Her Medals.” In this pro- | duction Cooper, on bended knees, asks 1 an old lady, played by Beryl Mercer, to be his mother.
