COLLIDING WITH TERRIFIC FORCE on the Great South Road near Penrose last evening, the two motorcycles shown above threw their riders and pillion passengers heavily to the road. All four are in the Auckland Hospital, the riders in a serious condition with severe head injuries. The pillion passengers, one a woman, although knocked unconscious at the time, were not so seriously hurt. On the left is the bend, near the Hume Pipe Co.’s premises, where the smash occurred.
