AUSTRALIA'S DEAD LETTERS WORTH £ 180,618 PROFITS FROM POST OFFICE United P.A. —By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 10.45 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. The Postmaster General’s annual report reveals that money and valuables to the amount of £180,618 were found in postal articles sent to the Dead Letter Office as undelivenable in the 1928-29 financial year. As many as 39,434 articles were posted without addresses. Telephone figures showed substantial progress, with an average of 7.93 telephones for every 100 people. Australia is now sixth on the list of countries in order of telephone density . A profit of £56,524 was shown on the year’s transactions.
