BIG LOSS
Australian Hockey Visit to Wellington FUTURE TOURS QUERIED From Our Residnet Report*, r WELLINGTON, Thursday. The report presented to the annua? meeting of the Wellington Hockey Association this w’eek made interesting reading, particularly in regard to its comment on the visit of the Australian team last winter. The loss on the season’s working totalled £2B 17s 6d. but the reports stated that this would have been considerably bigger had it not been for donations received from clubs to help finance the tour of the i Australian team. The actual cost of the Australian visit to Wellington was £133 15s 9d, as against which only £24 9s 9d was received in gates, the loss being £lO9 6s. “It is significant,” says the report, “that but for the Australian' visit the season would have been concluded with a substantial credit balance.” The indications are that each of the provincial associations, as their annual meetings come round, will deal pretty exhaustively with questions of finance, and it is expected that a very definite instruction will be given to the New Zealand executive on the question of tours by outside teams. This was certainly the case so far a?. Wellington was concerned, a resolution being carried that inquiries be forwarded to the affiliated associa tions asking as to their sympathy or otherwise with Australian visits, at the same time asking them for suggestion.--las to the frequency and control of such tours. The Wellington Association is clearly not going to be bitten
